The Arrangement of the 3nd Japan-Lao Public-Private Joint Dialogues

On February 22, 2024, the 3rd Japan-Lao Public-Private Joint Dialogue was held at the Champasak Provincial Hall Conference Room by the Pakse Branch of the Lao Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Champasak Province. Approximately 30 people from Japan and 30 people from Champasak Province attended, including those who participated online.
The meeting was co-chaired by Ambassador Plenipotentiary Kobayashi from the Embassy of Japan in Laos and Governor Vilayvong from Champasak Province, and proceeded in a dialogic format.
This year, we will focus on (1) issues to improve medical institutions, (2) issues to clarify dry port costs, (3) issues to prevent migrant workers to Thailand, and (4) issues to expand the number of hospitals covered by social insurance. (5) issues to ease the minimum charge for electricity bill by EDL. (6) issues to resume regular flights between Pakse and Bangkok. Based on these six themes, Dialogue was held between the Japanese side and Champasak sides to resolve and improve the issue. The sincere and serious attitude of both the Japanese side and the Champasak province side gives us confidence that Champasak province’s business environment will further improve in the future.
