LGH has begun construction of a hydrogen roasted coffee plant in PJSEZ
On 28 November 2025, Lao Green Hydrogen Co., Ltd. (LGH) officially held the Groundbreaking Ceremony of Hydrogen Roasted Coffee Plant Construction Project in the Pakse–Japan SME Special Economic Zone (PJSEZ), KM 19 Village, Pathoumphone District, Champasak Province. The construction of hydrogen roasted coffee plant of LGH will be completed within 1.5 years from December 2025 to April 2027.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Champasak Provincial Special Economic Zone committee, the Provincial Public Works and Transport Department, Culture and Tourism Department, Pathoumphone District Administration Committee, and KM19 Village, as well the representatives of LGH, EPC contractor and some Japanese companies in PJSEZ and other local companies involved in this project.
In his remarks during the event, Mr. Ryutaro Nishio, President of LGH has highlighted its commitment to promoting green innovation and environmentally friendly industrial development. The company aims to introduce a new model of clean-energy production by applying green hydrogen technology to roast high-quality coffee beans, marking a significant step toward eco-friendly industrial practices in PJSEZ.
After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, all guests joined a guided tour of the Hydrogen Roasted Coffee Pilot Factory at Rental Factory in PJSEZ which was completed last month, and they observed the production process and enjoyed a tasting of coffee roasted using hydrogen energy.
The event concluded successfully, demonstrating strong cooperation among LGH, provincial authorities, local authorities, contractors, PJSEZ and all participants. The project is expected to increase exports by adding high added value to Laotian coffee through hydrogen roasting, encourage the wider adoption of green energy technologies in the region, and contribute to sustainable economic development of Laos.
