JETRO Agricultural Business Mission Visits PJSEZ

The Laos Agricultural Investment and Agricultural Equipment Business Mission, hosted by Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), took place from March 3rd to 6th, 2026. The mission visited various locations in northern and southern Laos, including farms and markets, exchanges of opinions with agricultural managers, information gathering from agricultural companies and government officials, networking and individual business meetings with Lao companies, and networking among participants.
On the final day, March 6th, the mission visited Pakse-Japan Special Economic Zone (PJSEZ). At PJSEZ, Mr. Mochizuki, Managing Director of PJSEZ gave an overview of the PJSEZ. And then the mission toured the hydrogen roasting coffee pilot plant of Lao Green Hydrogen Co., Ltd. (LGH) and the tobacco factory of Tsuge Lao Co., Ltd. At the LGH plant, the participants received an explanation about hydrogen-roasted coffee from Mr. Nishio, President of LGH, observed the actual hydrogen roasting process, and enjoyed tasting hydrogen-roasted coffee. At Tsuge Lao Factory, the participants received an explanation from Factory Mr. Sangkhane, General Manager about the import and export of materials and their new products and were given a tour of the factory and cold storage area.
As a collaboration business with agriculture, PJSEZ is promoting a business model in which agricultural products grown in southern Laos are processed in PJSEZ and then exported, taking advantage of the various benefits of the special economic zone. We are confident that this mission enabled the participants to gain an understanding of the future potential of agriculture-related businesses and the processing-export business in Laos.
