H.E. Mr. Sonexay Siphandone, Prime Minister of the Lao PDR received Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun from Japan.

On April 29, 2025, it was announced that H.E. Mr. Sonexay Siphandone, Prime Minister of Laos would receive Grand Coldon of the Order of the Rising Sun as part of the Spring 2025 Foreign Decorations from Japan.
The award ceremony was held on July 3, 2025, at the residence of the Japanese Ambassador to Laos in the capital, Vientiane. This high honour conferred by H.M. the Emperor of Japan was formally presented by Ambassador Mr. Tsutomu Koizumi, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan during the ceremony.
Throughout his tenure as Governor of Champasak Province, Minister of Planning and Investment, and Deputy Prime Minister, Prime Minister Mr. Sonexay has worked diligently to attract Japanese investment to Laos and improve the investment environment. He has also contributed to the establishment of the Pakse-Japan Special Economic Zone during his time as Governor.
The ceremony was attended by the Prime Minister’s family, Laotian officials, and Japanese representatives, who expressed their gratitude for the Prime Minister’s achievements in a solemn atmosphere. Mr. Mochizuki, Managing Director from PJSEZ was also present.
Such international honors not only deepen the ties between countries but also contribute to promoting economic cooperation and cultural exchange. We hope that the relationship between Laos and Japan will continue to develop further in the future.
