Laos agricultural business mission hosted by JETRO visited PJSEZ
From February 27th to March 1st, 2024, the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) hosted an agricultural business mission to Laos. The participants visited northern and southern Laos for the purpose of visiting farms and markets in Laos, exchanging opinions with agriculture-related and agricultural companies, gathering information, and making business networking. On March 1st, the last day of the mission, they toured the Pakse Japan Special Economic Zone (PJSEZ). One of PJSEZ’s business model is collaboration with agriculture, in which agricultural products grown in southern Laos are processed in PJSEZ and exported using the various benefits of the special economic zone. During the tour of PJSEZ, the participants received an overview of PJSEZ, had a question-and-answer session, and toured some manufacturing factories related to agriculture. And they were able to get a feel of the state of agriculture -related businesses in Laos. This mission will lead to future investment in Laos, collaboration between Japan and Laos, and the development of trade with Lao companies.
